Responsibilities
Position Summary:
The Sustainability Manager, Circularity is the technical expert in the development and implementation of the Circularity Program. This role is pivotal and plays a key leadership part in developing and implementing strategies to minimize waste, maximize resource recovery, and drive a closed-loop economic system.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Act as the subject matter expert in the development and execution of the Circularity Program, including setting goals, defining project scope, overseeing project teams, and managing timelinesSu
Provide intelligence on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies and ensure the Circularity Program supports compliance
Oversee waste audits and identify the most critical waste priorities and embed data into management systems
Design and implement efficient recycling systems to optimize resource recovery and minimize waste generation
Establish robust data governance and management practices to track program progress, measure impact, and generate insightful reports
Provide insight on waste valuation to maximize waste revenues and minimize costs
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (operations, customer service, IT, food safety quality, finance) to ensure program alignment and integration
Drive stakeholder engagement by raising awareness of the program's benefits and securing buy-in from internal and external partners
Develop training for best practices at the restaurants and in operations to increase recycling and minimize contamination
Monitor industry trends in circularity and EPR and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
Ensure the operations follow all Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Good Warehouse Practices (GWP)/Good Drivers Practices (GDP) for transport rules and regulations

Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum 5 years of experience in sustainability, waste management, or a related field
Bachelor’s degree in environmental policy, sustainability, or related field
Proven track record of leading and managing successful sustainability projects
In-depth understanding of waste valuation methodologies and recycling systems
Strong knowledge of data governance principles and experience with data management tools
Familiarity with Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) policies and regulations
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Passion for sustainability and a strong desire to make a positive impact
