Position Summary:
The Behavior Based Safety Lead promotes safety and environmental programs within the company by actively coaching and training the manufacturing team members. This position initiates, implements, evaluates and manages safety programs that encourage the company, team members and their families to focus on healthy living and safe work actions.
Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to:
Facilitate and implement the company’s safety and risk management initiatives
Monitor the results of the company’s safety and risk management initiatives
Analyze and interpret risk data to identify opportunities, i.e., injury and collision prevention and focus
Train manufacturing management team on proper Behavior Based Safety (BBS) program
Conduct Safety meetings with manufacturing management and key team members
Facilitate Safety section of New Hire Orientation in partnership with local HR
Coach safety behavioral opportunities at time of incident
Create training plans based on safety incidents and findings
Participate in workplace injury and collision investigations
Participate in workers compensation and claim reviews
Coordinate tracking and communication of BBS metrics to manufacturing team members
Other projects or duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree Human Resources, Occupational Safety & Health, Risk Management, Engineering or Business, 5 plus years of safety related experience in an industrial environment or HS Diploma/GED and 8 plus years of safety related experience in an industrial environment
Experience managing performance metrics
Excellent written, verbal and facilitation skills with all levels of an organization
Excellent collaborations skills
Strong follow-up and follow through skills
Experience working in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and on a team
Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office, i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.
Ability to be on a rotational 24x7 on-call schedule
Tavel up to 5%
This position must pass a post-offer background and drug test
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Master’s degree
Experience facilitating training
2 plus years of people leadership experience
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Experience working for a large manufacturing and/or warehousing company
